You may have never heard about the smartwatch yet, or the company – but they have created something so unique that other companies have not even considered yet. ZeTime is a smartwatch that combines the traditional wristwatch from a whole new perspective that tries to solve the everyday problems with average, premium smartwatches that we have and use today.

So, let’s start it off with the first question, what is ZeTime?

According to the company:

“The first smartwatch with no compromises”

ZeeTime is a hybrid smartwatch that combines the so called; traditional wristwatch with a smartwatch in an elegant design with a new approach to solve every day issues. This is the first smartwatch to use traditional mechanic hands and a TFT display at the same time. It also features a classic designed like elegant wrist watch that lets you suit to all kinds of activities and events that you may come across throughout your day, week and month.

Here’s a quick video:

SPECIFICATIONS

ZeTime specs

The watch has Bluetooth 4.1 that lets you connect to your smartphone and tablet wirelessly. The watch itself is made out of stainless steel and has chrome mechanical hands. It has a 200 mAh Li-ion battery that should be enough to run for 3 days (using the TFT display) and 30 days (using the mechanical hands only), according to the company. The display is a TFT colour screen that’s 1.22″ 240×240. The watch is still pending to get it’s water resistant certificate that would allow you to use it up for up to 30 metres. A good additional feature about the watch is that it will have a Heart Rate sensor.  The watch will be compatible with Android 4.3+ and IOS 8.0+ devices.

The company and the creators have tried to keep and maintain the original look of wristwatches with added bonuses such as advanced functionalities.

It has a crown that can be rotated up or down to navigate through the menus and the whole UI. The company also states that the crown can be pressed to execute options and functions.

The watch is compatible with any 22mm wristbands, meaning that you can get your own and custom wristband to make it suit you the best. This is a good thing as it would not require any additional accessories that would obviously cost you some more cash.

DISPLAY

The watch has an actual, mechanical hands that can show you the time at any moment throughout your day, without consuming much of the battery. The good thing about this is that it can work at any time without powering up the whole display unit, so it could save the precious battery power when it’s actually needed.

The company and the kickstarter project does not unfortunately specify the gorilla glass version number, but our best guess is that it will be good enough to not shatter and scratch easily.

SOFTWARE

The ZeTime’s software is very similar to Android Wear 2.0 in terms of functions available for the users.

The software can sync with various 3rd party software and receive notifications from applications like Gmail, Snapchat, Messenger, Facebook, Twitter, WhatsApp, Uber, Skype and many more.

The watch can also tell you the person’s Caller ID when receiving a call and show calendar events.

The built in Heart Rate sensor can help you track your activities in a very simple way. The watch also has a 3-axis accelerometer that can give you information about your daily steps count, distance, calories burned and active minutes in a nice timeline on the watch as well as the phone app itself.

In addition of all that, it’s worthy to mention that the company did not forget about music lovers. Using the watch, you can control your music in a very elegant way. You can pause, play, go back to previous or skip to the next song. The watch can also be used to remotely take pictures using a smartphone and take great selfies from the distance.

CONCLUSION

Overall, it’s a very nice smartwatch that keeps the traditional circular design and mechanical hands to show the time and other additional information.

ZeTime is already available on Kickstarter and has raised over $1.7 million in the last 10 days or so. The campaign will end on the 27th April, so make sure you check them out if you want to be one of the backers who’ll receive the smartwatch first.

We think that this smartwatch will and definitely become a great competitor in the future, so make sure you keep an eye on the company for the announcements. It might be the next Pebble but with an even better success story behind it. We believe that this wristwatch will catch the average consumers, tech lovers and watch fanatics attention as it’s a beautifully crafted piece of both fashion and technology product.

The smartwatch is available in 3 different ‘collections’ – original, premium and elite. (The watch base is the same, only the wristband changes to a more premium one)

The original will retail for $199, premium for $229 and the elite for $249. Sounds reasonable in our opinion.
