RED is the professional camera maker company that makes high-end cameras and is now looking into entering the smartphone industry in a unique way. We can only just hope that they won’t do the same mistakes Amazon did with their “Fire” phone.
RED has announced yesterday that they are entering into the smartphone business and have also released some information about their upcoming “Hydrogen One” high-end device.
The highlight feature of the device is on the build quality, holographic display and the modular design. It’s also notable to mention that the device will also be compatible with some of the company’s high-end cameras such as the Scarlet, EPIC and the Weapon.
According to the company’s statement, the phone uses nanotechnology that will seamlessly switch between the traditional 2D content that we currently have on our everyday devices, and the holographic multi-view 3D content that isn’t yet available
The Hydrogen One will run Android and will have a lot of thing revamped and tweaked to have the right setup and support for their new innovations. The OS will also be able to convert stereo sound into a multi-dimensional audio.
What’s revealed is that the device will have a 5.7″ display, a 3.5mm headphone jack and a USB-C port. The price for the Aluminium variant will start at $1,195 while the Titanium variant will cost as much as $1,595.
If you are interested or looking to purchase the phone that we do not know in-full-detail just yet, you can order yours today. The company states that the current pricing is for a limited time only and those who pre-order early will also receive a “Special small token” – we are not sure what it could be used for just yet.
All of the shipments will start at the beginning of Q1 in 2018.
