As expected, Sony has just released their 2 new flagship devices and a mid-ranger. Finally, the smaller version the ‘Compact’ is a true flagship too!

Xperia XZ1

The Xperia XZ1 is the true flagship over the predecessor the XZ and XZs. It features a Snapdragon 835 chipset with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of expandable storage. It has a 5.2″ FHD IPS LCD display with HDR capabilities.

The device looks very similar to what we have seen before with the same ‘old’ large bezels. It however has the usual front facing stereo speaker setup which Sony says is much improved.

The device also comes with the traditional IP68 water and dust resistance certificate, NFC, Bluetooth 5.0, USB-C 3.1 and a 3.5mm headphone jack. The fingerprint sensor is located in its usual side of the device. It isn’t yet clear if it will be disabled in the US but we do suppose so.

The camera is a single sensor with 19MP, f/2.0 phase detection and laser autofocus as well as a single LED flash.

The selfie shooter is a 13MP sensor with f/2.0 too that can record in 1080p.

The battery is 2700 mAh and supports Quick Charge 3.0.

The device will come with Android 8.0 Oreo pre-installed.

The XZ1 will be available in Black, Warm Silver, Venus Pink and Moonlit Blue colour options when it becomes available.

Xperia XZ1 Compact

The Xperia XZ1 Compact is the first real ‘XZ Compact’ flagship Sony has released since chaning up their flagship’s name. It features a Snapdragon 835 chipset with 4GB of RAM and 32GB of expandable storage. It has a 4.6″ HD (720p) IPS LCD display. HDR unfortunately isn’t supported here.

The device comes with IP68 water and dust resistance certificate, NFC, Bluetooth 5.0, USB-C 2.0 and a 3.5mm headphone jack. The fingerprint sensor is on the side of the device, as always.

The camera is a single sensor with 19MP, f/2.0 phase detection and laser autofocus as well as a single LED flash.

The selfie shooter is an 8MP sensor with f/2.0 aperture. It can record in 1080p.

The battery is 2700 mAh which is decent size when compared to the device’s overall design and thickness (9.3mm) and supports Quick Charge 3.0.

The device will come with Android 8.0 Oreo pre-installed.

The XZ1 Compact will be available in Black, Snow Silver, Horizon Blue and in Twilight Pink colour variants.

Xperia XA1 Plus

We have predicted the coming of the XA1, but we didn’t think it would be a ‘Plus’ model.

The XA1 Plus is powered by MediaTek’s Helio P20 chipset paired with 3/4GB of RAM and 32GB of expandable storage.

The screen is 5.5″ FHD IPS LCD panel. There is no IP certificate to be found here.

So there is no IP certificate, but there is NFC, USB-C 2.0, Bluetooth 4.2 and of course the beloved 3.5mm headphone jack and stereo speakers. It also has a fingerprint sensor located on the side.

The main camera unit is 23MP with f/2.0 aperture and has a single LED flash. The selfie shooter is 8MP with f/2.0 and it can also record in 1080p.

It comes with Android 7.0 Nougat pre-installed and it will apparently be upgradeable to Android 8.0 Oreo in the coming months.

The device will be available in Black, Blue, Pink and Gold colour variants.
