Xiaomi has finally made their much anticipated device official – the Mi Mix 2, the real successor of their previous bezelless Mi Mix flagship.

The Mi Mix 2 is finally in a form factor that is easy to grip and still contains little to no bezels on the front of the device. It still has the ceramic back and the seamless looks, let’s take a closer look at it.

The device is made out of aluminium (frames and ceramic back) while the Mi Mix 2 Special Edition is made out of Ceramic all around, the sides are curved too – that’s impressive.

The Mi Mix 2 sports a large 6″ bezelless (18:9) FHD+ (2160 x 1080) IPS LCD display. It’s sharp too at ~403 ppi. Thanks to the new design, the Mi Mix 2 is much narrower and less taller than the original Mi Mix. The bottom chin has been reduced by 12% and the front glass is also curved on all sides.

The bezelless flagship features the Snapdragon 835 chipset paired with 6GB or 8GB of RAM and 64/128/256GB of storage. The Special Edition will have 8GB of RAM and 128GB storage options only (and of course the full ceramic unibody). Keep in mind that the storage isn’t expandable via a MicroSD card slot.

The camera module contains a single 12MP (Sony IMX386) sensor with OIS, dual-LED (dual-tone) flash. This camera is identical to the one that can be found on the Mi 6. The selfie shooter on the front is a 5MP sensor.

The battery is 3400 mAh that powers the Mi Mix 2 should be plenty enough for a good day of use. The battery capacity is reduced by 1000 mAh compared to the successor – Mi Mix – so we are curious to find out if the software improvements and enhancements make this a worthy pickup for power users. Quick Charge 3.0 is luckily supported for the device.

The Mi Mix 2 comes with Android 7.1.1 Nougat and MIUI 9 – the latest version of Xiaomi’s own custom ROM.

The standard Aluminium+Ceramic version will be available in Black colour variant only while the Special Edition (Ceramic unibody) will be available in both Black and White colour variants.
