Sony has released 2 devices for the Indian market recently. The devices in question are mid-rangers offering decent specifications and the same ‘old’ Sony design with small bezels on the side and large chins on the top and bottom.
The R1 and R1 Plus are said to be “designed for Indian lifestyle” and “designed to excite the new Indian” – stated by Sony – we’re not sure what that might mean.
The R1 comes with a 5.2″ HD LCD display with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 430 chipset paired with 2GB of RAM and 16GB of expandable storage.
On the back, there’s a single 13MP camera sensor with Sony’s own Autofocus feature that let’s you track objects and has motion prediction features which is a nice addition. The selfie shooter is 8MP that has the very same auto focus system.
It’s eqippped with a dual SIM, USB-C, FM Radio and a 3.5mm headphone jack. There are no details on the NFC. Battery wise, the R1 has 2620 mAh. Also, both devices will come with Android Nougat 7.1.
The only difference between the R1 and R1 Plus seem to be a few specifications, mainly the increased 3GB of RAM and 32GB of built-in storage that is also expandable.
The colour options for both devices are Black and Silver.
Price wise, the R1 is priced at INR 13,990 (~$215) while the R1 Plus is INR 15,990 (~$245).
