Apple’s keynote conference is over, at least the first day is. We have heard several key announcements that will affect Apple, their developers and their users. Let’s take a look at all the things that have been announced today.

In case you missed the Keynote, you can watch it here in full.

First things first, let’s start with some highlights of Apple’s App Store.

Apple has announced that their App Store has paid a total of $70 billion for their developers for their applications. The App Store was launched in 2008 and it has seen a significant boost in the download segments in the past 12 months alone. The downloads have grown up over 70 percent.

Let’s talk about design.

The design of the App Store has been completely redesigned from ground up. The App Store now offers 4 new tabs: (5 technically if we include the Search tab) Today tab, Games and Updates tabs.

The Todays tab will include in-depth reviews about helpful tips and descriptions about the game and their creators.

This tab will mostly include the above mentioned news and articles about games and their developers. It will also house the Top New App section that will highlight the newly announced games that are coming to the platform, so it can get people excited and can show useful applications.

The Games and Apps tabs will offer a similar look and will show the most popular games, apps divided into their own categories. It will also show recommendations, updates and new releases to help you find applications that will suit your needs the best.

The new search page will show contents and articles from the Today’s tab to help people find the most relevant search results, applications and games. In the new search bar, users will now be able to search by names, categories, developers and topics.

The App product pages are also getting a revamped look and a fresh, minimalistic update.

The new App Store design and enhancement update will be available in IOS 11 that will be available in autumn this year.

IOS 11 for iPhones and iPads

Apple has showed us the new IOS that is running on millions of iDevices all around the world. It includes a few redesigned elements and a lot of new and useful features.

First, let’s start with the new and improved interfaces.

The Control center has been completely redesigned and it now includes the same and more functions as before. Everything is going to be shown in a new widget-like order. The best of all is that you can still use 3D touch to access all and other additional controls as before.

When you’re on the homescreen, you can swipe down to bring down the lockscreen to show you the latest and most important notifications. Swiping left take you to your widgets as before.

Do not Disturb

The new Do not Disturb function gets some new welcome additional changes in order to help you keep your eyes on the road. It will offer useful features such as: silencing your phone automatically when it recognises that you are driving or that you are in your car. When you are connected to your Car’s bluetooth, it will automatically turn on the Do Not Disturb function.

It will also send message replies to anyone who tries to reach you while driving, they’ll be getting a “I’m driving, i’ll reply later” message to let them know you’re busy driving and do not want to get disturbed. While driving, you won’t get to see or hear the new notifications, however if you really need to find out what you have missed out on in the last few minutes, you’ll be able to turn your phone’s screen on and see a notification showing you a few things.

Camera and photo features

The camera and photo apps from Apple will get some Instagram like features and options. Live photos will get a Loop and Bounce features which are very similar to Instagram’s Boomerang. Also, for Live photos you can now set a cover image exactly the same way as you can pick a cover image for an Instagram video. Long Exposure can also be added to images instantly.

Memories will also get a portrait and landscape orientation feature that will allow you to watch your memories in both way. The best of this is that you can rotate your device while watching a memory and it’ll automatically adjust the screen and images for you, all while watching those memorable moments.

Portrait mode images can now take advantage of the OIS and use True Tone Flash and HDR.

Another addition is the new announcement of HEIF (High Effeciency Image File Format) that will compress and reduce the file size of all photos that are taken on the iPhone 7 and 7 Plus devices.

Siri improvements

Siri will see a lot of new improvements. It will now offer a more human-like voice for both a male and female. Other than that, it will also offer a more conversational features to understand the context that you’re saying to your phone much better. This still doesn’t look as good as Google Assistant, but we’ll know for sure when we get our hands on it.

Siri will now be able to translate 4 languages including: English to French, German, Italian and Spanish.

A new Siri package will also be available for developers to integrate Siri features into their applications to make Siri even more powerful and smarter.

In addition, the voice assistant will also collect information of your typed words, watched pages in Safari and the rest of the phone in order to learn from you and help you get more personalised results throughout the whole IOS platform.

Apple Pay

Apple Pay is getting powerful by allowing anyone who has signed up for the payment system to send and receive payments from friends. It’s an easy and quick setup that you have to go through if you want to send some money for your loved one. You can send and receive money in iMessages or tell Siri to pay some money for a friend.

All money that is sent will then be received on the other end in the person’s Apple Pay Cash account which can then be transferred to a bank account or be used where Apple Pay is available such as App Store, Websites, Shops and more.
