A more affordable version of the Redmi Note 5 will be the Redmi Note 5A. Reportedly the Redmi Note 5 will cost as much as CNY 1200 (or $175, €155)

The specifications for the low-end model will reportedly include a Snapdragon 425 chipset (the old generation one, not the new one!) and perhaps include 2GB of RAM and 16GB of expandable storage. The screen should also be a 5.5″ HD panel. It will apparently come with a 3080 mAh battery.

The front should give space for a 5MP selfie shooter while the back will be packed with a single, 13MP camera.

Compared to the standard Redmi Note 5, the 5A will have worse specifications and shorter battery life overall.

The phone is expected to run Android 7.1 out of the box along with (what we hope) MIUI 9 on top of it.

The phone is expected to be available on 21 August for CNY 999 (or $150, €125)
