It’s Samsung’s big day, they will finally officially reveal the Samsung Galaxy Note 8 in less than an hour.
The Note 8 was leaked a number of times in the past few months, and we pretty much know everything about the device’s specifications and even the design, find out what to expect, read below.
Here’s everything we know about the Galaxy Note 8 so far:
The final dimensions are said to be 162.5 x 74.6 x 8.5mm and it will be IP68 certified meaning that it will be dust and water resistant.
The new Note device will be larger than it’s Galaxy S8+ sibling by a little. The display is a 6.3″ Super AMOLED QHD panel with 18.5:9 aspect ratio – same as on the Galaxy S8 flagships. The display will have the same curves on the edges, but it will likely be a tiny bit smaller than on the S8/S8+ devices. It will also have the same infinity display with minimal top and bottom bezels on the front.
The Note 8 will be equipped with Samsung’s own Exynos 8895 chipset in Europe and other parts of the world, while the US will get the Snapdragon 835 chipset. Both variants are expected to come with 6GB of RAM and 64GB of on-board and expandable storage. US and Europe should only have the 64/128GB storage options available. The storage can be expanded further via a MicroSD card slot of course.
There’s supposed to be another variant that will likely have 8GB RAM and 256GB of on-board storage. This variant will likely be only available in Asia though.
The battery is 3300 mAh big which is smaller than what we can find in the Galaxy S8+, but will hopefully be enough to satisfy the power users’ needs. Qualcomm’s quick charge will definitely be supported but it’s unclear if the Snapdragon version will have the Quick Charge 4.0 or 3.0 version available. Also, fast wireless charging should also be available as we would expect.
USB-C port and a 3.5mm headphone jack port should also be available on the bottom and a dedicated Bixby button should also be found on the left side just below the volume rockers.
Before you ask, the S-Pen is here and is here to say.
The Note 8 will come with dual shooters on the back. Both cameras will feature 12MP sensors. There will be one with a wide-angle one with f/1.7 aperture and the welcome dual-pixel autofocus, while the other one will have f/2.4 aperture (Black and White) with telephoto lens that’ll enable it to zoom 3x without losing any image quality. Both lenses are expected to have OIS though this is unclear at the moment.
The camera bump on the back is expected to stick out by a bit, so make sure to protect it with a case or a skin if you happen to buy it.
Next to the camera, we will also see the LED flash, the same ‘awkwardly’ placed fingerprint sensor and the heart rate monitor.
On the front, an 8MP sensor will be placed with f/1.7 aperture to take selfies, this might be a wide angle camera, no confirmation about this just yet.
The Iris scanner from the Galaxy S8/+ will also be present on the front, top of the device.
The device is also expected to launch with Android 7.1.1 Nougat and will likely receive Android 8.0 Oreo in the coming months.
When is it going to be available?
